Need a hand?
1. Start with the FAQ or docs
Most questions we get are already answered on the FAQ page. “Is it really free?” “Does it send my colors anywhere?” “What about Digital Color Meter?” — all in there. For step-by-step walkthroughs of every feature, see the docs. Skim those first. You might save yourself an email, and us some thumb cramps.
2. Can’t find ColorCopy after installing it?
This is the most common one. ColorCopy has no dock icon and no main window. It lives entirely in the menu bar, up near the clock. If you launched it and don’t see it there, your menu bar is probably full: macOS hides overflow icons when there’s no room, and the notch on laptops makes that happen sooner. Quit a few other menu bar apps, or use a menu bar manager like Ice or Bartender to reveal hidden items. Also make sure ColorCopy is running by opening it again from your Applications folder — it won’t open a window, but the icon will appear. If it’s just hard to spot, open Settings → General → Menu bar icon and pick a more visible style.
3. License keys
Bought ColorCopy Pro and need it on another Mac? Open ColorCopy there, choose Unlock Pro… from the menu bar, paste your license key, and click Unlock. One key works on up to 5 Macs.
Lost your key? It was emailed to you at purchase, and you can retrieve it any time from the Polar customer portal — along with a list of the Macs it’s activated on. Hit the 5-Mac limit? Deactivate an old Mac from the ColorCopy Pro window (Deactivate this device) or from the portal.
4. Bought Pro on the Mac App Store?
ColorCopy used to be sold on the Mac App Store. If you purchased Pro there, your purchase still counts — we’ll send you a free license key so Pro works on all your Macs going forward. (ideally from the address you’d like the key delivered to) and mention that you bought Pro on the App Store. The direct-download version also keeps Pro unlocked automatically on a Mac where the App Store version was installed.
5. Refunds
If ColorCopy Pro isn’t working out, within 30 days of purchase and we’ll refund you, no questions asked. After 30 days we handle refunds case-by-case — reach out and we’ll figure it out. Refunds go back to the original payment method.
6. Something’s broken
Bugs happen. If the app is misbehaving, a quick restart often sorts it out. If it doesn’t, describing what you were doing, what you expected, and what actually happened. Screenshots are welcome. Angry screenshots are also welcome — we get it.
7. Feature requests
Got an idea for a new color format, a workflow tweak, or something we haven’t thought of? We’d love to hear it. We can’t promise to build everything, but we read every suggestion.
8. Everything else
Questions, compliments, complaints, press inquiries, existential doubts about hex codes. All are welcome. But be nice…we’re only human.
